Friends, Family Want Natalie Wood’s Case Reopened  Natalie Wood’s sister, Lana, and Dennis Davern, former captain of The Splendour, the yacht Wood owned with her husband Robert Wagner, have asked the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office to re-open the case surrounding the star’s mysterious death. The actress, who drowned in November 1981, allegedly fell overboard while trying to tie a dinghy following an argument with Wagner aboard the yacht. Authorities have not yet responded to the request. Lana Wood told CNN that she believes a highly charged argument between her sister and Wagner on the yacht’s back deck preceded Wood’s drowning. But she does not suspect foul play. “I just want the truth to come out, the real story,” she said. Davern also believes Wood’s death was a direct result of the fight with Wagner

Japan Upset With 2010 Oscar-Winning ‘Cove’  The Japanese fishing village featured in “The Cove,” which won an Oscar for Best Documentary, defended its practice of hunting dolphins yesterday as a part of its tradition. Residents of the remote village nestled on the rocky coast of southwestern Japan expressed disgust at the film, which they said distorted the truth, though few acknowledged seeing it in its entirety. The covertly filmed movie mixes stunning underwater shots of gliding dolphins with grisly footage of their slaughter. It also claims that dolphin meat is laden with toxic mercury.

Update: Ikki Twin Improving  Erica “Rikki” Mongeon is finally starting to show signs of improvement after an accident last week left her in a medically induced coma. The “Ikki Twin” from MTV’s “Double Shot of Love” is not out of the woods yet, but Mongeon’s manager says her eyes are open and she’s responsive. Doctors have reduced Erica’s medication and replaced her breathing tube with an oxygen mask. Erica and her sister Victoria were passengers in a car that collided with a semi-truck in Bakersfield, California, last Tuesday. There were no other serious injuries.

Oscar Tribute Snubs  On Sunday night during the “In Memoriam” segment of the Oscar telecast, several Hollywood greats were remembered, including Patrick Swayze, Brittany Murphy, Ron Silver and Michael Jackson. But fans were quick to point out that Farrah Fawcett, Bea Arthur and Ed McMahon were not included in the montage. While the three of them had been in several movies, the bulk of their careers were centered on TV. Still, fans and celebrities were perplexed why the icons were noticeably missing from the tribute. Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences executive director Bruce Davis explained, “It is the single most troubling element of the Oscar show every year. Because more people die each year than can possibly be included in that segment. You are dropping people who the public knows. It’s just not comfortable.”

A slideshow of the teen in happier times played in the lobby of the chapel and Thomas S. Monson, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiated the service.
