Celebrity News Oprah Winfrey Headed To Court Oprah Winfrey is expected to spend two weeks in Philadelphia defending a defamation case linked to a sex-abuse scandal at her South African girls’ school. The trial is set for March 29th. Oprah has rearranged her TV production schedule to be there. She also could testify. The case centers on comments Winfrey made in suspending a headmistress in 2007 while complaints were made about abuse. Winfrey had said she “lost confidence” in the woman and was “cleaning house from top to bottom.” A judge has refused to drop the woman’s defamation suit. A dorm matron was later charged with abusing six students.
Amy Poehler, Will Arnett Expecting Second Child Amy Poehler is pregnant. The “Parks and Recreation” star is expecting her second child with husband Will Arnett. The couple has a 16-month-old son, Archie. No due date has been given for the baby. Poehler and Arnett have been married since August 2003.
‘Buffy’ Actor Tasered And Arrested Former “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” star Nicholas Brendon was arrested in Venice, California, Tuesday night after allegedly becoming embroiled in a drunken scuffle with police. Cops were called to investigate reports of a drunken man causing a commotion. When officers arrived at the scene, Brendon allegedly refused to cooperate and ran away. He was detained following a chase and reportedly Tasered by officers as he attempted to escape. The actor was hospitalized and later booked for felony vandalism after allegedly damaging property during the incident.
Kevin Costner To Be A Dad For The 7th Time Kevin Costner’s second wife is pregnant with the actor’s seventh child. Costner married German model Christine Baumgartner in 2004 and they already have two sons, Cayden, two, and Hayes, who was born last February. The couple is expecting their third child this summer. Costner also has three children from his marriage to Cindy Silva, as well as a son from his relationship with Bridget Rooney.
Osmonds Cancel Series Of Vegas Shows Donny and Marie Osmond have cancelled their remaining shows at the Flamingo Las Vegas this week. “She needs to spend more time with her family,” her rep, Alan Nierob, said. “She’s still processing everything and it’s really rough on her.” Osmond returned to the stage March 9th following funeral services for her son, Michael Blosil. The Osmonds are expected to resume performances on March 23rd. The teenager, who is believed to have committed suicide, was laid to rest in Utah on March 8th.
Michael Lohan Has Heart Attack Lindsay Lohan’s estranged father Michael suffered a minor heart attack Tuesday and is recovering in a New York hospital. Lohan’s girlfriend, Kate Major, said Michael will undergo some sort of procedure in the next few days. On March 6th, Michael suffered chest pains and was told by his doctor that he needed a heart catheterization.
Arrest Linked To Corey Haim’s Death Police have arrested a suspect tied to the prescription-drug ring linked to Corey Haim’s death. The California Attorney General’s office hasn’t released any details, but they have confirmed that they have apprehended one suspect in connection with the group. Last week, authorities said Haim had a fraudulent prescription when he died that was linked to a major drug ring. Coroner officials in Los Angeles County say four prescription drug bottles in the actor’s name were found in an apartment where he collapsed. The coroner’s office has declined to state what medications were found, but said no illegal drugs were discovered. TMZ said the medications were Valium, Vicodin, Soma and haloperidol, an antipsychotic drug.
Kirstie Alley Denies Scientology Connection To Diet System Kirstie Alley appeared on NBC’s “Today Show” Tuesday to promote her new show, “Kirstie Alley’s Big Life,” and new weight loss plan, Organic Liaison. However, in a taped segment that played before her appearance, columnist Roger Friedman claimed Alley’s diet company was made of top-level Scientologists. Alley said yesterday, “That I need to clarify or defend the intentions of my LLC business corporation in the year 2010 is indicative of the intolerance that we as a country need to overcome.” Alley said that of the five executives on the advisory board, only one is a Scientologist. She also said that of the company’s 25 or so employees, four are Scientologists, adding that her company “does not discriminate in its hiring processes, including religion.” After voicing her displeasure during the interview to Meredith Viera, Alley took to Twitter: “Good morning!!!! Just experienced the meaning of BLINDSIDED.....delivered with a smile.... Shame on you Today Show...Shame on you.”
Sandra Bullock’s Husband Accused Of Affair Sandra Bullock’s husband has allegedly cheated on her with a tattoo model. Jesse James reportedly told Michelle “Bombshell” McGee his marriage to the actress was over and romanced her while the actress was away filming “The Blind Side.” Michelle told In Touch magazine, “I would never have hooked up with him if I thought he was a married man. He gave me the impression they were separated.” Bullock has now abruptly pulled out of the London premiere of “The Blind Side,” giving legs to the rumors. “Due to unforeseen personal reasons a trip abroad to support ‘The Blind Side’ has been deemed impossible at this time,” Bullock said in a statement yesterday. Bullock won the Best Actress prize at the Academy awards earlier this month for her role in “The Blind Side.”
Music News ‘American Idol’ Finalist Booted Lacey Brown was voted off “American Idol” last night. The 24-year-old from Amarillo, Texas, was the first finalist eliminated from the ninth season. At the beginning of last night’s show, Simon Cowell revealed the return of the judge’s save. Introduced last season, the one-time-only power allows the judges to rescue a contestant from being eliminated until the top five finalists have been selected. If they unanimously agree, no singer is eliminated that week but two will be eliminated the next week.
Jack White Sings With Jay-Z Jack White has recorded a new song with Jay-Z. White didn’t say how or when the song would be released, but he did tell GQ, “It was incredible. I played him something that I’ve been kicking around for a while and he immediately came out with words for it. It’s unbelievable-sounding.”
Clash Members To Tour With Gorillaz Rumors that the new live lineup for Gorillaz will include two ex-members of The Clash are true. Damon Albarn’s cartoon band will open up their band rehearsals to U.K. fan club members next week. The band will include The Clash’s Paul Simonon on bass and Mick Jones on guitar. Both Simonon and Jones appear on the title track from the new Gorillaz album, “Plastic Beach,” and Simonon was part of Albarn’s The Good The Bad & The Queen project a few years back.
Britney Spears Ends Relationship With Agent Britney Spears has reportedly ended her romance with agent Jason Trawick. Britney became involved with Trawick at the beginning of 2009. The pair reportedly split in August, only to reunite weeks later. Then at January’s Grammy Awards, the two were holding hands as Britney walked the red carpet. Spears has now called off their relationship for good but decided to keep Trawick on her staff. A source says, “They were fighting a lot and have not been getting along. They both just needed to take a break from each other. It wasn’t working out.”

Black Eyed Peas, Shakira, Alicia Keys To Help Kick Off World Cup The Black Eyed Peas, Shakira and Alicia Keys will headline a concert on the eve of soccer’s World Cup tournament in South Africa. The show is set for June 10th at the newly-renovated 30,000-seat Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg’s Soweto township. Proceeds will go to 20 Centers for 2010, which aims to improve Africa through the sport.
Lady Gaga, Beyoncé Tie Mariah Carey’s Record Lady Gaga and Beyoncé have officially tied the record for the most top singles. The pair’s “Telephone” moved to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Pop Songs chart this week, becoming the sixth No. 1 single for both Gaga and Beyoncé. The two now match Mariah Carey, who previously held the record, thanks to six chart-topping singles between 1993 and 2005. “Telephone” is from Lady Gaga’s second studio album, “The Fame Monster.”
Keys, Swizz Beatz Make Public Appearance As Couple Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz have taken their relationship into the public eye. The couple appeared together at Niche Media’s annual Gotham Magazine gala, hosted by Keys. The pair even posed for a photo with Keys’ mother, Terri Augello. The singer and the music producer have reportedly been dating for several months, although this is the first time the two have appeared in public as a couple.
Beyoncé’s Perfume Hits $3 Million In Sales Beyoncé has sold $3 million worth of her Beyoncé Heat fragrance since its launch last month. Beyoncé unveiled plans for her own scent in December and it went on sale at Macy’s in February. The scent, which features “notes of red vanilla orchid, magnolia, neroli and blush peach,” quickly became America’s top-selling beauty counter product. Women’s Wear Daily reported 70,000 bottles of Beyoncé Heat flew off store shelves on the first day. And Macy’s CEO Terry Lungren has revealed sales have reached a staggering $3 million in its first few weeks of release.
Madonna’s New Boy Toy Madonna may have a new boy toy, 25-year-old model Adam Senn. Madonna showed up with Senn, a Dolce & Gabbana model who has also appeared on “The City,” at a party for celebrity photographer Tom Munro in L.A. on March 6th. “She arrived with Adam from the back (entrance) and sat in the VIP area,” an onlooker told In Touch Weekly. “At one point, she got up and started dancing, and he was grabbing her waist and touching her butt. She turned around and gave him a lap dance and he looked like the happiest guy in the world.”
Daughtry’s Online Performance Daughtry will kick off the second leg of their arena tour with an online performance for Sony’s make.believe “Live Sets.” The online concert will air tonight at 9:20 p.m. [ET]. The performance will take place at 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore and will stream live at Daughtryofficial.com, facebook.com/Daughtry, Facebook.com/Sony, Crackle.com, and myplay.com. Simon Wants Elton To Be His Wedding Singer? Elton John is rumored to have secured the wedding gig for Simon Cowell’s big night. The “American Idol” judge is supposedly getting married in September and is in search of the perfect performer. A source close to Cowell says that performer could very well be Elton John. However, a rep for Cowell tells Gossip Cop, “This is a load of rubbish. No such thing has been discussed.”
