Jackson U17 Team Wins Super Y Soccer Championship

After a slow start, the Jackson Area U17 girls soccer team, Michigan Rush, traveled to Florida for the National Super Y Championships, and captured the National Championship in a 3-0 win over a PYSC Corona, a California-based team.

Marco Bernadini, a former Spring Arbor soccer player and longtime area coach led the guided the team and he said that he was shocked at how quick the Corona team was, but Jackson stepped up and got the job done. “I had to ask myself, ‘is the video sped up a little bit? Because these kids are fast.’ The next day, we talked to the team,” Bernadini said. “The girls bought into the message, and they were playing for each other and playing for something bigger. There was a massive difference between the two teams in terms of chemistry and who wanted it more. I think that’s what made us win in the end.”
