MDOC Reporting Declining Prison Population

prison-7-300x225-2

The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting that the prison population is just above 38,000, the lowest number since the mid 90’s.  The numbers continue a five year trend of fewer people behind bars.  The State attributes the decline to fewer repeat offenders and fewer parole violations.  MDOC credits training and re-entry programs.
