Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A two-vehicle crash in Henrietta Township hospitalized two individuals on Sunday afternoon, resulting in serious and life-threatening injuries.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), deputies responded to the collision on January 25 at approximately 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Bunkerhill Road and Berry Road.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a blue 2016 Ford Focus, driven by a 42-year-old man from Webberville, was traveling northbound on Bunkerhill Road.
In an attempt to avoid a stopped vehicle, the driver entered the southbound lanes of travel and collided with a southbound black 2007 Ford Fusion.
The occupants of the Ford Fusion, a 54-year-old female driver and a 65-year-old female passenger, both from Jackson, sustained significant injuries.
Both victims were transported by emergency medical services to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital. Authorities with the JCSO say the driver is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries, and the passenger remains in critical condition.
Evidence suggests that inclement weather was a contributing factor in the collision. At this time, it is unknown by officials if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff Accident Reconstruction Team.
The JCSO was assisted at the scene by Jackson Community Ambulance and the Henrietta Township Fire Department.
