The ribbon was cut and the new $50 million dollar facility is open for elementary students of the Western School district. The new Western Elementary building celebrated the long journey yesterday with a ribbon cutting and open house. Western Schools Board President of 17 years, Dr. John Sheets was excited for the event.

He said the technology in the building is unlike anything else in Jackson County.

Edwardo Blanc is the Director of TMP in Kalamazoo, his organization was the managing partner and initial designer of the new elementary building. He said the journey was long but was worth it.
