Jackson, MI (WKHM) — An early Monday (June 1) morning car-versus-motorcycle crash in the Village of Concord resulted in one death.
Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette reports that at approximately 6:37 a.m. on Monday, deputies from the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff (JCSO) responded to the crash on M-60 near Main Street in the Village of Concord.
Authorities say their preliminary investigation indicates that a motorcycle traveling westbound on M-60 collided with a GMC Terrain after the vehicle pulled out from the Citgo station and began turning eastbound onto M-60.
The motorcycle struck the left rear portion of the vehicle. The motorcycle operator was ejected and sustained critical injuries.
He was transported to Henry Ford Health Jackson, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified by officials as Jason Baker, a 34-year-old Spring Arbor resident.
Investigators determined that the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Preliminary findings indicate that speed may have been a contributing factor. The JCSO Crash Reconstruction Team is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
