Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — An investigation into a homicide that took place on Easter Sunday this year at a home in the 900 block of Orchard Place in Jackson has led to three men each being charged with one count of felony first degree homicide murder and one count of felony unarmed robbery.

Phillip Gauze (40 years old), Bryan Johnson (21), and Jemel Milton (35) were arraigned on July 16 in relation to the shooting death of victim John Lusch (45) of Marshall that occurred on April 20, 2025. The Jackson Police Department says Lusch was confronted by multiple individuals at the Orchard Place residence early that morning before he was killed. Authorities found his body with numerous gunshot wounds inside of the home after responding for a welfare check at approximately 11:30 p.m.

All three defendants are scheduled to appear in front of 12th District Court Judge Allison Bates for a probable cause conference on July 25, and are due back in court for a preliminary exam on August 5.

Gauze, Johnson, and Milton are all currently being held without bond at the Jackson County Jail.
