October 9 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
It’s Pioneer Day at the Waterloo Farm and Dewey School Museum on Sunday October 9th from 10 am to 5 pm. Take a trip back in time as you tour our 19th century farm buildings, Victorian era house, and original log home. Blacksmiths will be working at the forge, a colonial family will be in the log house, an Ojibwa tribal member will demonstrate pre-contact native life in the Waterloo area, and interpretive reenactors will portray the famous French explorer LaSalle who crossed the Michigan peninsula in 1680 and camped at or near the museum property. Make sure the kids tour the one room Dewey School house and listen as their teacher explains what their classroom would have been like 140 years ago. There will be artisans and vendors, beer brewing in a kettle, jams, preserves, apple butter, honey, and more. Enjoy live music, horse drawn wagon rides, our unique gift shop filled with period crafts, and a concession area to round out your day with lunch.
