Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Friday, signed two COVID-related Executive Orders.
Executive Order 2020-183 amends the Michigan Safe Start order, allowing movie theaters and performance venues to reopen and increasing the capacity limits for indoor and outdoor non-residential gatherings. The Executive Order now also increases the limit on indoor gatherings and events to 20 people per 1,000 square feet or 20% of seating capacity with a maximum of 500 people. Non-residential indoor venues must also require face coverings.
Outdoor gatherings are now limited to 30 people per 1,000 square feet or 30% of seating capacity with a maximum of 1,000 people.
The Governor also signed Executive Order 2020-185, which requires K-5 students to wear face coverings in the classroom starting October 5th.
