Jackson, Mich., February 28, 2020 — Scott Fleming, a proven job creator and veteran economic development professional, has been named as the new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Jackson Anchor Initiative.

“I am very pleased to be welcoming Scott back to Jackson. I look forward to his leadership and contributions as we continue to fulfill the Anchor Initiative’s mission of making downtown Jackson an even better place to live, work, and play,” said Terry Mierzwa, Jackson Anchor Initiative Board Chairman.

Fleming has an extensive background as an economic development professional, with a proven record of attracting new businesses, strengthening downtowns, and collaborating with local and state organizations. Most recently he served as CEO for the Marshall Area Economic Development Alliance. While there he assisted in recruiting nine new businesses, achieving a downtown occupancy rate of 97 percent. He returns to Jackson with significant local experience, having previously served as president and CEO of the Enterprise Group of Jackson.

The Anchor Initiative is Jackson Michigan’s private sector effort focused on transforming its downtown; and in doing so, making the entire community a more vibrant and valued place to live, learn and work.
