Michigan’s Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission officially begins its series of 16 public hearings across the state with the first to start in Jackson on Tuesday, May 11.

Back in 2018, Michigan voters agreed on the establishment of an independent body charged with redrawing and adopting new boundaries for Congressional, House and Senate voting districts.

MI residents are invited to the hearings to give the Commission opinion on their communities in order to inform the redistricting process as well as proposing new maps. Commissioners will be in attendance to answer questions and respond to comments.

The public hearing will be located at the American 1 Event Center, Tuesday May 11 at 6PM. Residents can view the meeting remotely through the Redistricting Michigan facebook page. More info can be found on their website, at http://michigan.gov/MICRC
