Two Lansing police officers were placed on administrative leave Saturday, a day after striking a 16 year-old girl in their custody. The Lansing Police Department also released bodycam footage of the incident to the public.
The LPD said in a statement that they are committed to transparency and police legitimacy, which was why the body cam footage was released.
The incident is currently under investigation by the department’s Internal Affairs Division.
Additional footage of the arrest spread on social media. In the video, one of the officers can be seen punching the girl in the legs repeatedly.
Lansing Police say that the two teens were resisting arrest for probation violations.
