Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A 15-year-old girl is recovering after being shot during what authorities say was an attempted break-in on Friday afternoon.

Deputies were called just after 4 p.m. to a home on Page Avenue near Knapp Street. The homeowner told police he fired at a group of people he believed were trying to break into his house.

By the time officers arrived, the girl had already left the scene. She later showed up at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, where she’s still being treated, but is expected to recover.

Investigators say three individuals were involved in the alleged break-in. All have since been located and interviewed by the police.

No arrests have been made so far. The case will be reviewed by the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if charges will be filed. Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety and Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.
