Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A Sunday afternoon shooting has resulted in the death of an 18-year-old female. The incident took place in the City of Jackson on July 27 at approximately 12:45 p.m., when officers with the Jackson Police Department (JPD) responded to the 1500 block of Carl Breeding Way for a call of shots fired. Officers arrived to find the 18-year-old victim, who was identified by authorities as Jackson resident Mia Sims, in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound in her neck area.

She was transported to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital, where she died from the injuries she sustained from the gunshot wound.

The Jackson Police Department and the Major Crimes Task Force (consisting of the Blackman Township Department of Public Safety, Jackson County Office of the Sheriff, and Michigan State Police Jackson Post) are currently continuing the investigation.
