The Jackson community has been invited to the unveiling of a new mixed useĀ development that will continue the private investment and growth in downtown Jackson.
On Friday Sept. 28 at 11:00 a.m., city officials and local business leaders will gather on the 200Ā block of N. Jackson Street to unveil a sign that marks the beginning of an exciting newĀ residential and commercial development that will take shape over the next year.Ā TheĀ unveiled sign will feature a rendering of the project and design details.Ā The vacant piece of land on N. Jackson Street has been of interest to developers for two years.
Studies performed by the local Young Professionals group found that a new mixed use complexĀ would be a viable addition to Jackson, serving the needs of young professionals looking forĀ housing downtown.
Working with the City of Jackson, the project is spearheaded by Jackson Downtown PartnersĀ (JDP), a group of local business professionals interested in the current and future prosperity ofĀ the Jackson community. JDP worked with its design team, Studio Intrigue Architects, toĀ develop a plan to meet the needs of young professionals who would like to live in downtownĀ Jackson.
Theyāve envisioned a new development named The 200. The contemporary building will standĀ four stories tall, with three floors of upscale apartments and 4,100 square feet of commercialĀ space on the first floor. Plans call for 82 market-rate units. 80 percent of them will be studio or one-bedroom apartments, with the rest of the units providing two-bedroom apartment living.
Future residents will enjoy high-end amenities that include the latest technology to contribute toĀ environmentally responsible energy creation and use. Construction is expected to start in AprilĀ 2019, with leasing beginning in Dec. 2019.
The 200 is bringing a $13 million investment into the city of Jackson. JDP says the mission ofĀ The 200 is to be the premier commercial and residential place in the Jackson community.Ā This development is a collaboration of Mercer Construction, County National Bank, the City ofĀ Jackson, Studio Intrigue Architects, and the Jackson Smart Energy District of ConsumersĀ Energy.
