Troopers Investigating Shooting

Troopers from the Michigan State Police were dispatched to the 5000 block of Welch Lake Road, between Seymour and Glenn Roads for a report of a shooting incident.

Troopers found a 25-year old male victim who had been shot in the abdomen. The victim was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health with life-threatening injuries. Witnesses indentified the suspect that fled the scene. Officers from Blackman-Leoni Public Safety and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office created a perimeter around the suspect’s vehicle in the 3000 block of Seymour Road, about 8 miles away from the scene. The Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team apprehended a 28-year old suspect without incident. The suspect is being lodged in the Jackson County Jail on numerous charges. Currently, names are being withheld pending investigation and arraignment.
