Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — During the afternoon of Wednesday, October 22 of this year, officers with the Jackson Police Department (JPD) responded to the 500 block of W Ganson Street for a shots fired report near The Tobacco Shoppe.
The JPD says that shell casings were located in the area.
According to a JPD report, a 20-year-old male was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and a 16-year-old male was lodged at the Youth Center for carrying a concealed weapon and felonious assault in relation to the incident.
Records from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office show that 20-year-old Roland Cowper was lodged at the county jail that afternoon on a concealed weapons offense.
Cowper was one of the individuals who testified during the October 16 preliminary exam of 19-year-old Antonio Treyvonne Green. Green has been charged with open murder in relation to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Mia Sims, the niece of current City of Jackson Mayor Daniel Mahoney.
Court records show that Cowper is scheduled for a probable cause conference on October 31 at 1:00 p.m. on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
