Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Multiple instances of power outages have been reported in the midst of a wind advisory in the Jackson County area.
According to the Consumers Energy Outage Map, more than 2,000 of their customers have been affected by power outages in Jackson County. The Michigan Center School District closed their schools early on Friday after they lost power.
Brian Wheeler with Consumers Energy says that safety is the company’s first priority when assessing these types of situations.
Wheeler says that most of the outages caused by high winds have been felt within Jackson County, and that it is up to Consumers to make sure they get power restored as quickly as they can.
While the outages are expected to be taken care of before Saturday morning, Consumers Energy is keeping the possibility of more high winds in mind as weather during Michigan winters can be unpredictable.
