Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson County Department of Transportation (JCDOT) has announced that they will temporarily close S. Jackson Road in Liberty Township between Kimmel Road and Lindsey Road beginning next Monday (January 19) through Friday, January 30, weather permitting.
The department says this closure is part of a roadway safety improvement project funded through a grant awarded to JCDOT to remove hazardous trees along the corridor.
The work is being completed in response to a history of off-road crashes in the area and is intended to improve overall roadway safety.
During the closure, local residents and essential services (including emergency response, school transportation, mail delivery, and refuse collection) will maintain access within the affected area.
A signed detour route will be in place according to JCDOT. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and plan for additional travel time.
