Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — Jackson community members gathered at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Center on Scheele Drive on Thursday afternoon for the Center’s ribbon cutting ceremony put on by officials with the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the Shop Rat Foundation, and Jackson Area Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
Shop Rat Foundation Executive Director Kelly Kofflin spoke with WKHM and described the event as the result of two years of work with the community and collaboration with JAMA.
Funding for the center to train students looking to enter into a career in a manufacturing sector of work has been made possible through multiple entities throughout Jackson pitching in support.
While the center is located in Jackson, Kofflin says she hopes the positive impact is felt regionally beyond Jackson.
Those in attendance also heard from JAMA President Olivia Steele before the ribbon was cut.
Photographs from the event can be seen on the WKHM Facebook page.
