Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A gunfight between two men in Jackson Monday night left one of them hospitalized.
Police say it happened around 8:10 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, where a 21-year-old man told officers he shot another man in self-defense after being fired upon during a fight.
Jackson Police Chief Christopher Simpson says the 20-year-old suspect was hit in the arm and groin. He fled the scene but was later found and taken to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. He’s in stable condition and expected to recover.
Simpson says the fight escalated when the suspect pulled a gun and started shooting. The victim, who has a valid concealed pistol license, returned fire and struck the suspect multiple times. About 10 shots were exchanged.
The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Jackson Police or Crime Stoppers.
