Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A recent state revenue forecast projected a budget of $34.05 billion for the next fiscal year that begins on July 1. That is down by around 1% from the projection that took place in January which gave a total budget of $34.37 billion. State Senator Sue Shink discussed the lower projection, citing federal economic policy as the catalyst.
With negotiations to take place between the House and Senate over the next state budget, Senator Shink explained what her role will be for the Senate.
She will also be negotiating the corrections and judiciary budgets. The Senator was also able to talk with some of the corrections officers who made their voices heard at the State Capitol last week.
