Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A tragic accident in Leslie Tuesday evening has left one young boy dead and another injured after what police are calling an electrocution incident.

Authorities say two juvenile males came into contact with a live electrical wire near W. Race Street, behind an apartment building close to Woodworth Elementary School. Both boys were taken to the hospital, where one later died. The other is expected to recover.

Consumers Energy confirmed the boys touched a live line and says their team responded quickly, shutting off power in the area for safety. About 488 customers temporarily lost electricity.

A Consumers Energy spokesperson said they’re heartbroken by the incident and are hoping for a full recovery for the injured child. The investigation is ongoing.
