Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — On the morning of Thursday, June 5, fire and emergency crews responded to the 4400 block of Donnely Road for a report of smoke coming from the roof of a single-family home. When personnel arrived on the scene, they encountered an active fire that was happening inside of the residence.

Officials say an elderly woman was found in the home, and was safely evacuated from the residence before being taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A firefighter from the Summit Township Fire Department was also hospitalized with minor injuries during the response.

According to authorities, the fire displaced the family that lived in the home. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
