
Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A 22-year-old Jackson man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on Wednesday, June 4 at Peacock Walk in Blackman Township that resulted in a 16-year-old boy suffering a gunshot wound to the head before being hospitalized, where he remains in critical condition as of Friday afternoon.
Following the incident, detectives with the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety were able to identify a suspect, but could not immediately locate him. Detectives soon received information on his whereabouts and began conducting surveillance. According to authorities, a search warrant was executed at an apartment in the City of Jackson once the suspect’s location was confirmed.
The operation was conducted by authorities with the Jackson County Special Response Team, which is comprised of officers from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, City of Jackson Police Department, and the Blackman-Leoni DPS. The 22-year-old man was located inside the apartment, and was lodged at the Jackson County Jail without incident.
He is expected to be formally arraigned on charges related to the June 4 shooting.
