Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — In anticipation of Jackson’s heat wave beginning this weekend, the Jackson Area Transportation Authority (JATA) is offering free “Hot Ticket” city bus passes to Jackson residents whose health may be at risk. These passes can only be used during a heat emergency, which is when temperatures reach 90F degrees or higher.

The passes provide free rides to designated cooling centers in the City. The participating cooling centers are the Department on Aging (Mon – Fri, 8am – 5pm), the JATA Transfer Center (Mon – Fri, 6am – 6pm. Sat 10am – 10pm), the MLK Recreation Center (9am – 9pm), Westwood Mall (11am – 9pm), and all Jackson Library branches (Mon – Thurs 9am – 9pm. Fri 9am – 6pm. Sat 10am – 5pm).
