Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — As the negotiations between the State House and Senate in regard to the state budget, we are now long past the self-imposed July 1 deadline for determining the education budget. State Senator Sue Shink told WKHM last week that the Senate wants to discuss the budget in full rather than passing it in portions, but State Representative Kathy Schmaltz tells WKHM she disagrees with that approach.
Representative Schmaltz also is the Chair of the House’s Families and Veterans Committee, where she will testify in support of bipartisan legislation that would increase the level of requirements needed to become a guardian of a senior.
The Grand Slam for Kids is less than a week away, with Rep. Schmaltz detailing what the day will look like as local kids in the community get the chance to visit Comerica Park to see the Detroit Tigers on the diamond.
State Rep. Kathy Schmaltz joins A.M. Jackson with Marc Daly on Friday mornings. Tune in on 970AM, 101.5FM, or online at WKHM.com.
