Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson County Office of the Sheriff has reported an in-custody death that occurred on Thursday, August 7 at approximately 2 p.m.

An adult inmate who was not immediately identified was found deceased in their cell from what authorities say is an apparent suicide.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Jackson City Police Department, and officials say more details will be released when available. The Sheriff’s Office says their thoughts are with the individual’s family and loved ones.
