Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson Police Department (JPD) has sent out a notice to the public that it was brought to their attention that scam invoices have been sent to local companies claiming to be from the City of Jackson.
The invoices may feature methods of payment that no city department would require, such as wire transfer, money order, Bitcoin/cryptocurrency, or gift cards.
JPD advises that anyone who receives an invoice unexpectedly for services they did not receive or request call City Hall directly at 517-768-6060 to verify its legitimacy.
Officials do not recommend responding back to other emails or phone numbers that may be on the phony invoices.
