Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson Fire Department (JFD) and Summit Township Fire Department (SFD) have both received support from their local governments to continue to collaborate as they make efforts to enter a shared service agreement.
SFD Fire Chief Tim McEldowney spoke at Tuesday’s Jackson City Council meeting, saying that the two fire departments have been operating in close partnership for many years.
The council also heard comment from JFD Fire Chief Tim Gonzales, who emphasized that he believes a formal shared service agreement would help both sides operate with even more efficiency.
Jackson City Manager Jonathan Greene told WKHM that the approval of the resolution from both Jackson City Council and the Summit Township Board of Trustees was the logical next step in the partnership.
