Fatal Hit-and-Run Car vs Pedestrian Crash in Rives Township Under Investigation

Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson County Office of the Sheriff (JCSO) is investigating a fatal car versus pedestrian hit-and-run collision that occurred on the evening of Thursday, January 15 in Rives Township.

At approximately 9:36 p.m., Jackson County Deputies responded to the area of Lansing Avenue and South Oak Creek Drive in Rives Township following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, units located the victim, described by authorities as a 76-year-old male from Jackson, who had sustained fatal injuries. The involved vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under active investigation. The JCSO is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver and vehicle involved.
