Jackson Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead Tuesday morning on the city’s east side.
Officers were called to the 1600 block of East Michigan Avenue just before 8:45 a.m., where they found a 49-year-old Jackson man deceased in the rear of a parking lot. Police say the victim appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso. A passerby discovered the man and called 911.
Earlier that morning, around 2:13 a.m., police responded to a report of several shots fired in the area of Orange Street. Officers checked the scene at that time but did not locate anything suspicious.
Detectives with the Jackson Police Department are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Thomas Tinklepaugh or Crime Stoppers.
