Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Jackson Interfaith Shelter (JIS) held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Family Shelter building at 305 W Wesley Street on Wednesday (March 18) afternoon.
JIS CEO Steve Castle (pictured below) told WKHM that he sees today’s event as a blessing that was years in the making.

The groundbreaking would not have been possible without hundreds of financial and voluntary contributions from the Jackson community, which came from a variety of walks of life to support one cause.
The new Family Shelter will specifically cater to vulnerable families, supporting them to be able to get back on their feet in their time of need.
Those who attended the event also heard from JIS Board President Tom Hunsdorfer, JIS Director of Operations Sheryl Sabo-Grieve, Andy Mercer of R.W. Mercer, and an invocation JIS Board Member Jason Engle (top left, top right, bottom left, and bottom right respectively).
