The Jackson County Family Farmfest is Saturday from 11am to 5pm at three area farms.
Ronnie Weaver, acting President of the Agriculture Council joined WKHM to talk about the event. “We have 3 sites in southern Jackson County that have very wide variety of animals. One of them Choate’s Belly Acres in Liberty Township has been around for 180 years, and they’re in their 3rd generation of family ownership; and they are an amazing outfit. They have just under 2000 acres in the operation, they milk almost 500 cows three times a day, and they grow another 1800 acres of crops. They’re going to be churning butter, they’re going to be making some charm bracelets, and of course, playing with the calves.” Weaver said. The other two sites this year are the Jackson Area Career Center’s Agriculture and FFA Program, and Riddermark Farm Horse Boarding.
