A kayaker died after getting trapped under a water dam in the North Branch Kalamazoo River in Albion, Friday evening.
The kayaker, a 56 year-old Albion woman, fell out of her kayak into a strong current near the dam, pulling her underwater and trapping her inside the dam.
The water flow of the dam had to be slowed before rescuers could get to her.
CPR was performed on her at the scene before she was sent to Henry Ford Allegiance Health where she would later die from her injuries.
