Lansing, Mich. — Legislation to ensure students are learning cursive as a type of penmanship has been approved by the Michigan House.

The bill, introduced by State Representative Brenda Carter of Pontiac, calls for the Michigan Department of Education to develop or adopt cursive curriculums. Carter says by passing this bill, children will develop better memories and improve their cognitive function, while connecting to past generations.
