From the City of Jackson, Michigan: Mayor Daniel Mahoney has called a special meeting of the Jackson City Council on Tuesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. The meeting is planned for councilmembers to review proposals from local organizations who are seeking to purchase the T.A. Wilson School facility from the City of Jackson.
The meeting will consist of short presentations from the organizations that detail their plans for the property, along with an opportunity for councilmembers to ask questions. The City of Jackson purchased the T.A. Wilson building, a vacant Jackson Public Schools facility, last year to use it as homeless housing and resource center. The City is currently working with two local organizations to provide homeless services at the former school building.
The City of Jackson intends to sell the property to a local organization that will continue homeless assistance at the site. The special City Council meeting will be live streamed on the City website and YouTube page. The meeting is open to residents.
