Brooklyn, Mich. (WKHM) — Michigan International Speedway’s NASCAR Fan Zone is where participants in a new gravel bike race, Irish Hills Gravel, will begin their day at the Irish Hills on Saturday, October 18.

Rachel Buchanan, VP of Marketing and Communications at Experience Jackson, provided WKHM with more details regarding what the racers can expect to see on one of two routes, and the benefits they can get just from taking part in the race.

Steve Trosin, Experience Jackson’s Outdoor Recreation Manager, says that some racers will be there for the competition, while others may be content to focus on enjoying their surroundings and the general atmosphere.

Trosin also said that while there are bikes specifically geared to deal with gravel trails, there are many types that are able to get the job done.

Registration for the Irish Hills Gravel, along with availability of race routes and more details, is available at irishhillsgravel.com. Packet pickup begins at 3 p.m. on October 17, the afternoon before the races begin. The races begin at 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., with a finish line party and awards ceremony at noon.
