Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A tragic crash in Leoni Township has claimed the life of a 17-year-old Jackson resident and left another juvenile critically injured.

According to a press release from the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around midnight on Page Avenue near Portage Road. The 17-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A juvenile passenger was rushed to a local hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. Their age is not being released due to their minor status.

Next of kin have been notified. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash, including whether speed or impairment played a role.
