Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — The Summit Township Fire Department and Jackson Fire Department, in collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency services, will be conducting multi-agency active shooter training scenarios at Jackson College beginning October 1 and continuing through October 3.

Officials say this planned training exercise is part of ongoing efforts to enhance emergency response readiness and coordination among first responders in the event of an active shooter incident.

These simulated emergency scenarios will take place inside and around Jackson College buildings, and sections of the campus may be temporarily closed to the public for safety and training integrity.

Local residents should know that they may see a large presence of emergency vehicles, personnel in tactical gear, and hear simulated gunfire or other loud noises during the exercises.

Officials remind the public to not be alarmed by the increased emergency activity on the Jackson College campus during these dates, and that exercises like these are a critical part of keeping the community prepared.
