In a video posted to The Parlour of Jackson’s Facebook page, current owner Scott Pienta said the discovery of “multiple dead dogs” was made in a garage area used by a previous manager for storage. Pienta says he had no idea the space was being used to store dead animals and contacted authorities immediately after finding out. In the video, he expresses repeated frustration with the former manager. Pienta stated in the video he was aware of a deceased goat stored in a jar and had asked the previous manager many times to remove it.
According to MLive, Pienta purchased The Parlour earlier this year from Mark and Trace Cooley. The Cooleys had been in a lease-to-own agreement with Janet Parker, who had been running The Parlour. Parker also owns a separate frozen treat shop and a dog grooming business.
The investigation is ongoing.
