It’s back to school week in Jackson County. WKHM recently spoke with Western Schools Superintendent Mike Smajda. He said their enrollment continues to trend up from the Covid years.
Work continues on the new elementary building on Dearing road across from the main campus. Smajda said they had hoped to have it open for the start of the school year, instead they will transition to the new building in January. Smajda said this will work out better for the young students.
