Consumers Energy is teaming up with ITC Holdings this month to complete reliability upgrades on the electric grid in the Jackson area.

The project aims to strengthen the grid and keep energy costs down for customers. Consumers Energy will replace high-voltage distribution poles, working in coordination with ITC crews already in the area for their own upgrades.

By combining resources and aligning construction schedules, the two companies say they can reduce costs and limit disruptions for local communities.

Consumers Energy officials say the work is critical to building a more reliable and affordable energy future for Michigan. The upgrades are set to begin in early August and are not expected to cause any service interruptions.
