
Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — It’s a yes from every community in Jackson County last night facing a millage at the polls yesterday.
The Leoni Public Safety Millage Renewal passed with over 61% of the vote, 1,205 yes to 761 no. That millage continues the Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety Department and will continue to serve both communities by extending the 1.5 mill tax for another five years.
East Jackson Community Schools Bond Proposal passed with nearly 53% saying yes with 552 approving and 492 voting no. The $12.34 million bond will improve student safety, go toward school repairs and education.
Springport Public Schools Bond Proposal also passing yesterday with the yes votes getting over 57% of the vote 351 to 263. Funds from the millage will be used districtwide for building improvements.
The Vandercook Lake Public Schools Operating Millage Renewal had the largest approval yesterday passing at 66.5% with only 388 votes saying yes and 195 saying no.
