Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — According to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety (DPS), authorities with the DPS as well as Michigan State Police have been called to the scene of a crash between two semi-trucks on I-94 between the exits of Elm Road and Cooper Street in the eastbound lanes.
Those lanes have been closed and officials expect them to remain closed as crews complete cleanup efforts. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes if available and to expect delays in the area.
A similar crash occurred on Wednesday, resulting in a closure for nearly six hours. Both crashes have caused diesel fuel leaks, both of which are reported to be contained with no risk to the public. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is assisting with cleanup.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is said to be working with the DPS and the Jackson County Emergency Management Office in reevaluating the lane shift at this construction site after these recent incidents.
