Jackson, Mich. (WKHM) — A cooking accident sparked a kitchen fire Sunday afternoon in Jackson, forcing the homeowner to find temporary shelter.

Fire crews responded around 3:30 p.m. to a home on North Grinnell Street. The blaze began in the kitchen and spread quickly, causing heavy damage to that area and filling the rest of the house with soot.

No one was hurt.

Summit Township and Blackman-Leoni emergency crews assisted at the scene.
