This free community event will highlight a screening in English of Un Día Normal, a multi-award-winning short film, featuring a Q & A with the filmmaker Maurizio Dominguez. The movie, made entirely in Michigan, is based on a true story, and follows a college student who finds herself detained by immigration enforcement when her DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and work permits are delayed. The film looks at challenges faced by recipients of the DACA program and their families.

The event that will feature information booths, educational resources, fun activities, and opportunities for dialogue and connection on the topic of immigration. Attendees can schedule a Know Your Rights training, collaborate with the Community Education panel, join JC4IC’s Rapid Response team, and much more. The aim is to bring together neighbors from all walks of life to learn, share, and engage with the topic of immigration.

We want to highlight both the services we offer and the volunteer opportunities available, as well as discover new ways we can partner with other Jackson organizations and businesses,” said JC4IC founder Gayla Ignacio. “This event is about raising awareness and making community connections.
