Jackson,  Mich. (WKHM) — A tragic motorcycle crash in Lenawee County has left one person dead and another seriously injured.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a 34-year-old woman from Hillsdale and a 36-year-old male passenger were riding north on Devils Lake Highway Saturday morning when they lost control and left the road, striking a mailbox in the 6900 block.

Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle. A witness at the scene tried to perform life-saving measures on the woman, but she was pronounced dead when first responders arrived. The passenger was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital with serious injuries.

The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team is still looking into the crash, but authorities say alcohol may have been involved.
