When the COVID-19 Pandemic began to hit close to home, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer made the decision to close schools statewide March 16th through April 6th.

Under a new Executive Order, schools will now be closed at least an additional week. The pandemic continues to spread, with Michigan now being the 5th state in the U.S. with the most cases of COVID-19 recording over 2,800 positive cases as of Thursday, March 26th.

While the governor “hasn’t made that call yet,” she says it is “probably very unlikely” that children will get back into classrooms before the end of this school year.

In the wake of this unprecedented situation, many online learning sources are opening their sites for free to families so they may continue to learn.

Here are some online resources for kids WKHM has compiled, and in the meantime, we will continue to keep you updated on this situation as it evolves.

If you are a Jackson, Michigan-based entity providing resources for parents and kids, we want to know!
